TIG Welding
Today this process is used mainly inside aerospace industry where its capacity weld thin pieces involving metal together is valued highly. Since this process uses a high degree of skill welders have to be fully qualified first before they are able to perform it. Knowing the right combination of heat and pressure to apply takes experience. Welders who can perform TIG welding are therefore valued highly.
.
MIG and TIG welding both use a stainless steel arc to make your weld. Some of the major differences are that one process uses a continuously feeding wire, this is MIG. And with TIG welding you make use of long welding rods together with slowly feed them into the weld puddle.
MIG welding is a very simple and easy process to educate yourself compared to learning ways to TIG weld. The technical names for these are typically metal inert gas (MIG), together with tungsten inert gas (TIG).
A MIG welder works by using a continuously feeding spool associated with welding wire that uses up, melts and fuses both base and parent precious metals together. You can weld a number of materials such as delicate steel, stainless steel together with aluminum.
An array of material thicknesses can be welded from thin measure sheet metal right as many as heavier structural plates.
TIG welding on the other hand is more commonly raised for your thinner gauge supplies. Items that are made out of this process are things like kitchen sinks and application boxes. The biggest benefit is that you can get your power down really low and not blow with the metal.
Pipe welding and also other heavier tasks can also be performed, you just require a unit that is competent at putting out the amount of power that you need.
The principal difference between MIG together with TIG welding is that a person method uses a continuously feeding electrode and it is a very fast way of putting down welds. The other way is a way more fine and delicate welding process.
The most versatile machine is the TIG welder and often weld many different types of metals. The downside is it's very slow. For anybody wanting to undertake some welding at home your better choice of machine to buy must be the wire giving MIG welder.

I hear people discuss TIG welding, but My uncle was a "heliarc welder". Whats the difference?
That "TIG" in TIG welding stands for Tungsten Inert Gas. But Before it was eventually called TIG" it was given the name "Heliarc" because helium was the gas that's used when the course of action was invented. But then someone found that argon worked better and for that reason it was called TIG because inert gas could consult either helium or argon. But wait, then someone else found that small additions of hydrogen worked well for some metals. The word "Inert" not any longer held true so the eggheads decided a new name was required. So nowadays, the technical term for what had been called TIG and Heliarc is actually Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and also "GTAW". But Guess what? people still call it TIG and even Heliarc. In fact more people call it TIG welding than Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. Welders, Welding, Welder
